Vietnamese Man Jailed For Using Landlords’ Houses For Rising Cannabis
A Vietnamese guy who utilized rented accommodation for growing medications continues to be jailed right after police uncovered two cannabis factories he was working in Slough and Maidenhead last year.
Phuc Van Hoang, aged 29, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Studying Crown Court on 5 January to 2 counts of generating cannabis. He was sentenced to 28 months in prison for every offence, to become served concurrently. He will then be responsible for deportation to Vietnam.
Det Con Iain Watkinson, the investigating officer, mentioned: “Cannabis factories are still appearing in rented households.
I would urge all landlords to carry out normal checks of their properties and for neighbours to consider tell-tale signs for example blacked-out windows, humming noises from extractor followers, strange smells and bulk amounts of fertiliser arriving at the house.”
The crimes had been uncovered in October 2010, when police had been called with a member of the public who reported suspicious activity at an address in Ray Mill Road West, Maidenhead. Officers attended and pressured entry to the property, a three-bedroom terrace house.
Inside the house they found 443 cannabis plants growing in all three bedrooms and the bathroom. Every bed room contained high-powered lighting and extractor followers, and the electrical energy meter had been by-passed. A wardrobe on the landing contained bottles of fertiliser and growing agents.
The only occupant current at that time, Van Hoang, was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.
At Maidenhead police station, Van Hoang had his fingerprints taken. They were found to complement fingerprints taken at an address in Canterbury Avenue, Slough, where a cannabis factory had been found in March 2010.
Cannabis was growing by 50 percent rooms of the rented house in Canterbury Avenue. Officers found a total of 170 plants plus 11 root balls and 222 empty pots.
Van Hoang was faced with two counts of generating cannabis and appeared at Slough Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded till his subsequent court physical appearance at Studying Crown Court.
