Safety For Everybody
To most of us, accidents and injuries at work are not new. Perhaps, in the past, we have been involved in such incidents or know someone who has been injured when working. It is the responsibility of the employer as provided by the law, to protect the employees from any forms of danger. Hence, there will be a decrease in workers filing for Industrial Injury Claims.
Providing proper work environment for the workers, including social, physical, psychological, and environmental situations and factors, is a requirement for the employer. As part of their legal responsibilities to the workers, employers must give a safe workplace and without any threat to the workers health. Prevention and protection in the workplace must be practiced to minimize or eradicate accidents and injuries from happening.
Employees should also be conscious of their own safety as well as to the workers whom they work with. Both employees and employer should cooperate in maintaining a safe environment to work. No matter how sophisticated your equipments may be, you are still at risk of accidents and injuries at work if you do not apply safety precautions.
Seeking help from your company’s trade union, if there is one, is a good suggestion in case your employer does not provide you with a good work environment. Report to the proper authorities who can help you if there is none.
Working hand in hand, it takes both employer and the employees effort to keep the workplace safe. If the employer is not able to provide the necessary equipments or conditions to ensure the welfare and safety of the employees, it could mean an increase in accident and injuries at work. In the end, the number of workers filing for industrial injury claims or Work Accident Compensation Claim will also increase.
It is a top priority for both parties to keep the workplace safe. The benefit of enforcing safety procedures within the workplace is for the employer and the employees to enjoy.
