4 Great Colleges and Universities All Located in Ohio

The state of Ohio is known to have many schools and people from all over America as well as other countries choose to attend these colleges or universities in the Midwest. This will take a look at a few different schools in the state of varying sizes including The Ohio State University in Columbus, Miami University in Oxford, Kenyon College in Gambier and Mount Union College in Alliance. The littlest of the schools mentioned here is Kenyon College located in Gambier, Ohio. It is an academically rigorous small liberal arts college with only 1,600 undergrads. Another small private school in Ohio is Mount Union College in Alliance that is in northeast Ohio. It is a similar size to Kenyon College but not as academically rigorous and great for the good to average student who would like individualized attention from smaller class sizes. They are known in the country for having one of the best Division III football programs as well as a good liberal arts education focusing on educating students how to think critically and communicate well verbally as well as in the written form.

One of the best public universities in the country is Miami University in Oxford. It was once called the Harvard of the Midwest as well as being one of the public ivy’s meaning it was close to being of Ivy League quality while still being a public state school. Because of this, it is thought to be one of the best financial deals in higher education where you may get a lot for less money. It is a beautiful campus of red brick buildings with a little more than 16,000 undergraduate students. In the mid 1990’s the mascot of the school was changed from the Redskins to the Redhawks to be more politically correct and not to insult American Indians in the area.

The largest school in Ohio is called The Ohio State University located in the state capitol of Columbus. To say that alumni that graduate from Ohio State are fiercely loyal is an understatement as they give a great deal of money to the school annually but are the craziest fans at any Buckeye sporting event. It is quite difficult to be accepted as an in state student as the competition academically is very high.
